Any fair-minded, objective person who has reviewed the evidence considered by the grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri can possibly believe the tragic killing of a black youth by a white police officer was an act of racial discrimination.
That said, commonsense tells me that the police force in any community should ideally reflect the ethnic and racial mix of the population. Commonsense also tells me that the ideal can rarely be achieved because of troublesome facts that get in the way. In this case the lack of qualified police force applicants reflecting the racial and ethnic mix is probably one of those troublesome facts in most poor, predominately black communities like Ferguson, Missouri.
Let us hope that the residents of Ferguson, Missouri get some relief from the mayhem by enjoying a peaceful Thanksgiving Day tomorrow.
